The Somafco-X Trustees are young individuals who have passionately committed their time and resources to establish an organization that can become a support base for former Somafco students and South African youth in general. Underpinning the progress of the Somafco-X Trust is a ?collective effort? not only by the Trustees but by individuals who share in the experience of Somafco. Friends who are sympathic and understanding of Somafco?s history, its relevance to modern day South Africa, have also made various forms of contributions to ensure the success of this initiative.

Somafco-X Team

The following are Trustees:

1. Mr. Oupa Mahlatsi- Is a former student of Somafco. He Co-Founded the Somafco-X initiative, gathered information on whereabouts and status of former students. He has subsequently played a pivotal role in establishing the Somafco-X Trust. He oversees the operational issues of Somafco-X Trust on day to day basis.

2. Mrs. Ingrid Ndlovu is a former student of Somafco. She has contributed a vast amount of resources and advice to Somafco-X. With her vast experience in organizational development, she has enabled the Trust to make major strides in its development. Inrgrid?s key task is developing a gender strategy that is specific to the needs of many former Somafco-X female students. Apart from this, she participates in various other initiatives relating to the Trust.

3. Ms. Nomafa Matlou is former Somafco student and has been instrumental in developing direction and fulfilling administrative needs for Somafco-X Trust. She has been and continues to be selfless in her contribution to the development Somafco-X.

4. Motsamai Maleka is former Somafco student and in partnership with Oupa Mahlatsi, he co-founded the Somafco-X initiative. He was central in conceiving information gathering process and exhibition, introducing and promoting the concept of Somafco-X. He has been the ideas engine in terms of how to achieve Somafco-X objectives, programmes and activities. Motsamai is very passionate about Somafco?s history and the role it can play in youth development in South Africa.

5. Tlholo Mohlathe is a younger generation former Somafco student. He has made contributions in the activities of Somafco-X. He supports Oupa Mahlatsi on a day to day basis.

Management Committee

The management committee of Somafco-X Trust is composed of all the Trustees and other members who participate regularly and some on an ad hoc basis. They meet on regular basis to discuss issues concerning the Trust.

Patrons

The Somafco-X Trust will introduce its Patrons approximately two to three weeks from now or inbetween this time frame. The latest date is 1 March 2007.

The Patrons provide advice and guidance to the Trust and enable it to champion its vision and mission.
