SOMAFCO Young Writers competition
On the 2nd of February 2012, the SOMAFCO Trust launched the SOMAFCO Young Writers competition at the Wesleyan church in Waaihoek, Mangaung. The main objective of this competition is to contribute towards literacy improvement, preserve and promote heritage, particularly the liberation struggle. read moreIn 1993, this month would have, particularly within the ANC, been known as the Solomon Mahlangu month, in remembrance and commemoration of hero combatant Solomon Kalushi Mahlangu, who was killed by hanging on April 6, 1979 by the apartheid state. He was detained in 1977 during his return back to South Africa to implement an uMkhonto We Sizwe sabotage operation.
